Bensons for Beds is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join our growing Product Innovation team as a Product Technician (NPI). This is an exciting opportunity to play an active role in the introduction of new products, ensuring our customers experience the highest standards of quality and comfort with every product we launch.
Responsibilities in New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Engineering
- Support the NPI process by participating in the assembly, testing, and evaluation of prototype beds, mattresses, and bedroom furniture.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Quality teams to facilitate smooth new product launches.
- Conduct hands-on functional and durability testing to identify product improvements or technical challenges.
- Accurately document product builds, test results, and any non-conformance issues.
- Assist in the implementation of engineering changes and ongoing product upgrades.
- Ensure all new products meet the company’s safety, quality and regulatory compliance standards.
- Participate in pilot build runs and initial production to validate manufacturing processes and product design.
- Provide technical support and training to production and operational teams regarding new product features and assembly protocols.
- Maintain a safe, organised workplace and actively contribute to team continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Skills and Experience for Success in Product Technician Role
- Previous experience working in a technical, product development, or manufacturing environment is desirable, but not essential.
- Practical skills for building, testing, and troubleshooting physical products and assemblies.
- Strong communication skills for productive teamwork across departments.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and technical documentation accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail and a solution-focused approach to problem solving.
- Proven record of working safely and maintaining high housekeeping standards.
- Comfortable using hand tools and basic testing equipment.
- IT proficiency to complete reports and use company systems (full training provided).
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and develop within a fast-paced, evolving environment.
