Health and Safety: Promoting a Positive Safety Culture in Manufacturing

Main Responsibilities: Health and Safety Compliance and Risk Management

• Ensuring that effective risk assessments are in place for all the site's activities, including SOPRA, COSHH, Manual Handling, Noise, DSE, and other statutory requirements
• Ensuring Group systems for reporting and responding to accidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses are implemented 
• Implementing testing arrangements for emergency response and fire systems
• Maintaining relevant KPIs and information on Health and Safety matters
• Providing health & safety training and inductions welcomed safely into the business
• Liaising with internal management providing advice and guidance 
• Carrying out internal audits and inspections
• Ensuring the contractor management process is adhered to 
• Working closely with and becoming a valued member of the Legal & Safety Team

Essential Experience and Skills for Health and Safety Advisors in Manufacturing

• Experience in a health and safety role within a manufacturing, production, or engineering environment.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation and risk management principles, especially for factory operations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and coach colleagues at all levels.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical, organised approach to problem-solving.
• Confident working both independently and as part of a team; able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Competent in writing clear reports and maintaining accurate health and safety documentation.
• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent health & safety qualification is desirable.
• IT literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
