Jo Preece
Reward & Process Delivery & Improvement Manager – People TeamWhy did you decide to join the business?
It’s a national household name retailer with a long history. I remember as a child - a long time ago! - going to buy beds from Bensons for Beds.
What do you love most about working at bensons for beds?
Everyone says it, but the people. We have so many good people in this business, so many who have worked so hard to make it successful, and so many lovely people who have worked here a long time.
What is your bed time routine?
My bedtime routine is usually a little chat with my kids as they always want a little chat about their day before they go to bed, then I would love to say I read educational books before drifting off to sleep, but I don’t, I scroll and look at my phone like everyone else (if they say different they are lying!) then go to sleep!

What development have you received whilst working at bensons for beds?
Wow so much, literally learn as you go here! Its been learning on the job, but from some great people at all levels of the business, from trying to get my head round SPOC and tableau reporting to now payroll, and every kind of crazy employee relations story you can imagine – never a dull day working with people!
How do you feel working at bensons for beds has helped you professionally?
It has been challenging but I have learnt so much, not just technically, but also how to cope with the challenges, how to support others and how to support those around me. I don’t always get it right, which I struggle with, but I know I have grown in every way.

What one piece of advice would you give someone starting a new career with bensons for beds?
Bring your experience from your previous roles, but come with an open mind, and if something needs doing, do it, there is not an army of people waiting around to do it for you!
