Tony Waddy
Logistics Director – Warehouse & DistributionWhy did you decide to join the business?
I was after a new challenge and had 2 job offers on the table at the same time; the reason I chose Bensons was the fact that it was where I could make the biggest difference for customers and add value to a business that needed help to stabilise and grow
What do you love most about working at bensons for beds?
The people; we have a great team and they are so customer focussed. Its rare to find a business nowadays where the colleagues make, buy, sell and deliver their own products end to end.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
I’ve enjoyed a long and successful career in Logistics, I don’t really see it as a job anymore. I love helping people improve their skills and seeing the results, especially when it enhances the customer experience. Everyday I get to learn something new and have the chance to share my knowledge, helping others develop their careers.

What is your bed time routine?
Sleep is really important to me, its something that I haven’t had enough of over the years; so In the evening I like to relax and watch some TV with Wendy, the phone is out of the way and notifications are switched off so that my mind is powered down and ready for bed.
What development have you received whilst working at bensons for beds?
I’ve been able to work with some truly brilliant people, learning from their experience as we transform the business, every day has been a school day!
I also attended a Dale Carnegie leadership course focussing on Developing an Emotionally Intelligent Workforce which was perfect as we continue on our empowerment journey.
What one piece of advice would you give someone starting a new career with bensons for beds?
Back yourself!
We have a relatively small business where everyone can make a difference; its full of opportunity for those who want it; just go for it
