About the Role

At Bensons for Beds, we're focused on creating outstanding digital experiences that make it easy for our customers to find the perfect night's sleep. We're looking for a talented Front End Developer to join our growing Digital team and help shape the future of our ecommerce platform.

Working alongside UX designers, product owners, back-end developers and commercial teams, you'll be responsible for building fast, accessible and engaging customer-facing experiences. You'll play a key role in developing new features, optimising existing functionality, and ensuring our website delivers the best possible experience for our customers.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with modern technologies including React, Next.js, TypeScript, Bloomreach Content and BigCommerce, while contributing to a large-scale ecommerce platform that serves customers across the UK.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing and maintaining customer-facing features using React, Next.js and TypeScript.

  • Building responsive, accessible and high-performing web experiences.

  • Integrating front-end applications with our headless CMS, Bloomreach Content.

  • Collaborating with UX, Design, Product and Commercial teams to bring ideas to life.

  • Troubleshooting and resolving front-end issues and defects.

  • Contributing to website performance, SEO and accessibility improvements.

  • Supporting A/B testing initiatives and analysing user experience enhancements.

  • Maintaining development standards, best practices and code quality.

  • Keeping up to date with emerging technologies and recommending improvements.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a developer who is passionate about creating exceptional user experiences and takes pride in writing clean, maintainable code. You'll be collaborative, curious and eager to contribute to a fast-paced digital environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • At least 2 years' experience in a Front End Developer role.

  • Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and modern JavaScript.

  • Commercial experience with React and Next.js.

  • Experience working with TypeScript.

  • Understanding of responsive design principles and web accessibility standards.

  • Experience using Git and version control systems.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
